Our Story

Welcome to Ballroom Dancers of Tulsa, a vibrant community established in 1984 with a passion for ballroom dancing. As we approach our 40th anniversary in 2024, we're not just celebrating the years gone by; we're dedicating this milestone to giving back.

 

Our regular dance gatherings, held every second Saturday of the month at the Elks Lodge, have been a cornerstone of our community. However, for our 40th Anniversary, we're taking it up a notch. We're excited to share our plans for a series of workshops featuring top coaches from around the world. These workshops will bring the latest trends in ballroom dancing right to our community's doorstep.

 

But that's not all! We're organizing a mini-match, a practice dance competition uniting all local studios. And to cap off this momentous year, we're preparing for a grand gala, an evening of celebration that marks our four decades of shared passion and dedication.

 

However, our celebrations serve a larger purpose. All these events will fuel the mission of Team Awesome, an initiative close to our hearts. Team Awesome is committed to providing live virtual dance classes to children and adults with Autism or Intellectual Disabilities. Moreover, we're proud to announce the launch of the Team Awesome Dance Circuit. This innovative platform will ensure that Ballroom Dance competitions become inclusive for people with Intellectual Disabilities, fostering a more diverse and welcoming dance community.
